Frequently Asked Questions
How
far in advance should we reserve a resource?
Although it is possible to get resources on short notice,
to make sure you can get what you want, when you want it, contact us as
soon as possible. We will take reservations as much as one year in advance.
Can
I preview a video or DVD? Is there a charge?
You are always welcome to preview any video before
deciding whether or not to use it. You may preview videos free of charge
at the Resource Center. The cost for offsite previews is $1.50 (plus shipping
if applicable). If you are interested in a series, we usually only send
out one session from the series. Previews should be returned within ten
days. Because many of our videos are used quite frequently, it is important
that when they are sent out for either preview or use, that they be returned
promptly so we can accommodate scheduling requests. Therefore, if a video
sent for preview is not returned to us within ten days, we will charge
the regular usage and handling fee.
What
does the usage and handling fee associated with videos and DVDs cover?
The usage and handling fee covers our shipping cost
to you (via UPS) and lets us set a little aside for upkeep and maintenance
of our DVD collection.
When
we borrow a video how early can we expect to receive it?
We ship videos and DVDs about ten days prior to the
reserved use date, so you will receive it in plenty of time to prepare.
If you need it earlier, please talk with us about your request.
When
we borrow a video or DVD how and when should we return it?
We choose to ship via UPS so we can track a shipment
if necessary. However, many churches choose to return resources via USPS.
There is rarely a problem. Just remember that when you have a resource
checked out, the resource is your responsibility until it is returned
to our office; therefore, if a resource is lost in the mail, you will
be charged for its replacement. Please return resources as soon as you
have finished using them, so we can accommodate other bookings. If you
need to extend your use, please contact us to make arrangements.
Do
you sell resources?
We do not usually sell resources.
However, we would be glad to help you get in touch with the publisher
or distributor of a resource. We have also had fundraiser book sales on
a limited basis as advertised events. Watch for details each fall.
Is
there a way we can support the ministry of the Resource Center?
While our sponsoring judicatory bodies support us with
significant financial contributions, we also accept gifts from individuals
and congregations. Such gifts can be designated for the purchase of a
particular resource. Some churches also choose to donate resources they
have purchased and used. Please contact the Resource Center for a copy
of our wish list or more information.
